Ich hätte es ja wissen müssen! Jedesmal, wenn ich mich entschliesse etwas neues auszuprobieren, bekomme ich eine auf die Nase. So auch von Vexxhost. Die Firma weiß, wie man Kunden vergrault…

Ich habe mich natürlich von den vollmundigen Werbeaussagen blenden lassen:

Das hatte ich mir so schön vorgestellt. Ein Server der mit meinen Anforderungen zu skalieren ist, der mit meinen Projekten wächst und ein hohes Maß an Stabilität und Sicherheit mitbringt.
Doch schon beim ersten Stillstand des Servers hätten bei mir die Alarmglocken schrillen müssen. Aus der Administration heraus lies sich der Server nicht rebooten. Das Servieticket blieb über 24h stehen und man bot mir an das System zu wechseln, da das installierte System nicht das beste wäre. Nagut…
Zu dem Zeitpunkt waren 2 WP Blogs installiert, die zwar ordentlich Traffic hatten, doch nichts großartiges was einen meiner laufenden 08/15 VPS ins Schwitzen gebracht hätte.
Zu den 2 größeren Projekten gesellten sich noch 3 kleinere. Ich war skeptisch ob das CloudSystem halten würde und bekam recht.

Inzwischen ist die Administration wegen Wartungsarbeiten seit Tagen nicht mehr erreichbar und der Support arbeitet genauso langsam wie zu Beginn. Wieder wird mir ein Umzug “bald” angeboten:

Das ist nun auch schon wieder ein paar Tage her. Mirgriert wen oder was ihr wollt. Ich bin weg!

Nun habe ich langer Abstinenz von Administrationssoftware á la Confixx einen Server mit Plesk für meine Kunden einrichten lassen. Und was passiert gleich beim Anlegen eines neuen Kunden? Richtig, ich lege eine IP als exklusiv an umd bekommen keine neue Domain  angelegt, weil der IP Pool leer ist.

Da heißt es dann ganz lapidar:

Der Typ bereits zugewiesener IP-Adressen kann nicht geändert werden!

Ich habe dann im Webmin in MySQL die Tabelle ip_pool in der Datenbank  psa die Werte auf shared gesetzt. Puh, was für ein Aufwand!

Personally when I want to add a video to a blog post I try to cover the basic points in the article and expand on the topics if at all possible. This allows me to add valuable content and also when adding video to your online business you need to realize that the major video sharing websites allow users to follow your videos. This means that you should spend time on the video websites making sure to accept friend requests and reply to any comments your videos mat get.

Another couple forms of content that you should be looking at when trying to add quality to your blog or website is pictures. With my website how to make money online I really wanted to make it personal so I took a couple pictures of myself and added them to the website. This allows the visitors and audience to put a face rather than thinking it is an impersonal website. There are many types of pictures you can add to a website or blog. There are millions of pictures to choose from which will enhance your website or blog. Everyday there are hundreds of websites being published, many of them set out to failure from the beginning. People buy domain names, hosting accounts and then load some content into a CMS and expect success. It takes way more than that to become successful in an industry with the competition we have. When building a website do not expect to become rich overnight, do not expect thousands of people visiting your website within couple weeks. It is not impossible but your chances are compared to none.

First thing is first, choose a good topic to start a website about. Don’t write about “how to make a money making website” if you have never had a website that made money. Another thing is that people rush; you aren’t going to be ranking up top on Search Engines right away. Give it some time, allow your site to work its way up, let it prove itself to top search engines like Google and Yahoo. In the meantime, do some work on your website, make sure the design is” SEO friendly.” Avoid having random things scattered all around your website.

Avoid copy and paste content. Those people write them articles and/or content with hard work, they gave their time into it, you should be able to do this too. Write unique content, don’t steal other peoples work. Nobody likes this, including Google. You will get punished for copying other people’s material. It’s that simple. Do a lot of link exchanging, try getting good quality backlinks. DON’T trade links with garbage websites. Make sure you’re not trading links with non-quality websites. Remember your references will determine your spot on Google. The websites Alexa ranking, Google Pagerank, just do some research on it.

Für verschiedene Kundenprojekt bin ich auf der Suche nach einem preiswerten Hoster.

Was brauche ich?

• 500 MB Webspace
• 1 MySQL DB
• PHP
• Subdomains
• einige POP
• wordpressfähig (der letzte vermeintlich gute Hoster kappte einem Kunden die Leitung…)
• möglich preiswert (nicht billig), da es doch eine ganze Menge Projekt sind die umziehen sollen

Was ich nicht brauche ist eine Domain zum Paket! Die Domains werden seperat verwaltet!

Wer kann was empfehlen?
Dann spamt mich mal zu!

Ich bereinge zur Zeit mein Domainportfolio und trenne mich von einigen Domains, für die ich zur Zeit keine Verwendung habe.

Da ahnt man nichts böses und will nach seinen Projekten schauen und man schaut auf eine Website auf der steht, dass die Datenbankverbindung nicht möglich ist. Naja, es passiert schon mal dass der Datenbankserver sich mal verabschiedet, doch ein /etc/init.d/mysql start bringt ein can’ write unto directory /val/lib/mysql zu Tage! Und ich stelle mit erstauen fest: Die Festplatte ist voll!

Merkwürdigerweise hatte ich Tags zuvor noch einige Projekte und damit auch Datenbanken auf einen anderen Server transferiert und nun sollte die Festplatte voll sein?
Lange Rede kurzer Sinn ein ls -lahS $(find / -type f -size +50000k) förderte ein 120GB großes Error Logfile zu Tage. Solch ein Monstrum hatte ich noch nie gesehen. Mein Versuch es zu Zippen und herunterzuladen schlugen fehl.  Bei einem Load von 38 brach ich die Archivierung ab. Schade ich hätte gerne gewußt, wer das welche Schweinereien versucht hat. Egal!

Bei der Gelegenheit habe ich dann die Entscheidung getroffen einen neueren Server bei meinem Standardhoster Hetzner zu bestellen. Irgendwie sind 120 GB Festplatte und 1GB Speicher nicht mehr ganz zeitgemäß!

Nachtrag: Schuld war ein fehlhaftes Joomla Modul, welches im Sekundentakt Fehlermeldungen generierte während sich der Yahoo Bot auf der Seite austobte…!

Preiswerte oder kostenlose Themes für WordPress gibt ja bekanntermaßen wie Sand am mehr. Nun habe ich mich für ein Kundenprojekt auf die Suche nach einem Converter von WP nach phpLD (phpLinkDirectory) gemacht.

Im Netz findet man hierzu allerlei Interessantes. Das meiste rankt sich dann um CMS wie Joomla und Drupal.

Hat hierzu jemand einen Tipp?

Nachdem sich Getty Images letzte Woche abermals mit der Aufforderung nach Zahlung Ihrer Rechnung gemeldet hat, gehe ich morgen zu einem Fachanwalt für Urheberrecht.

Glücklicherweise hat sich eine Lizenz für das Template gefunden, dass ein befreundeter Webmaster bei eBay ersteigert hatte. Die Auktion ist aus dem Jahre 2004…

Nun bin ich gespannt was die betroffene Firma (die es glücklicherweise auch noch immer gibt…) dazu sagt. Vielleicht hat diese ja eine Lizenz?
